Diabetes mellitus is one of the medical conditions triggered by a poor-response to hormones like insulin. Your body stands incapable of controlling your glucose levels (read: sugars). Feeling tired and thirsty – at almost all times – are some of the distinctive signs of this autoimmune disorder. But is feeling sick after eating sugar a sign of diabetes? It is helpful to have more inputs.

If you are living with diabetes mellitus – especially its type 2 form – you are more likely to experience a few symptoms. These include need to pee frequently, feeling dehydrated and hence making you to drink excessive amounts of fluids, sensing hunger more often, turning fatigued and weaker.

Not stopping with the above, your wounds – i.e., accidental cuts or nicks – may take way too longer to heal. In some people, ocular problems like blurred vision, numbness of legs and hands may also show up. People with diabetes have also complained of their skin becoming drier; in some, patches of a darker color may occur – especially on their limbs and neck regions.

Type 2 form of diabetes mellitus may also have an adverse impact on your body weight. You may observe an inexplicable drop in weight – even if you are taking well-balanced and healthy foods. Several medical studies are available on the reasons why you lose weight. Studies claim your cells are incapacitated – due to diabetes – to produce needful amount of energies to run your system. This occurs as there is a suboptimal use of glucose – which are a reliable source of energy.

Once your body does not make energies out of sugars / glucose, it turns to fats for supplying it with energies. This means breaking-down of bodily fats to make them into energy for your body to function normally. Owing to the loss of fats, your weight starts losing weight and you lose flab at a never-before level.

When you consume a meal with high levels of sugars in it, your system starts producing insulin to move calories into cells; this action is necessary to make needful amounts of energy. But in some people, sugar levels can reach an optimum way too soon. These can cause a condition known as hyperglycemia. This medical condition makes you report a very high level of blood sugar; this is often accompanied by dizziness, thirstiness, feeling weak or tired, needing to urinate very often, blurring of your eyesight, splitting headaches or acute spells of migraines, and also feeling nauseated.

In some cases, there can be a crash-down of blood level sugars. This is due to a condition called reactive hypoglycemia. It is also called as blood-sugar crash. The ensuing sickness shows up as extremes feelings of hunger, being irritated or living with mental anxieties, palpitations, faster heart beats, profuse sweating, tremors and feeling dizzy.

If your body has built resistance to insulin, it eventually causes a rapid high build-up of sugars in your bloodstream. As a result, your body may turn weak and you may experience nausea. Many people with insulin resistance may get to see additional cravings to take more sugars.

In some people, their system may develop difficulties in digesting sugars off foods they eat. This occurs even if you do not have autoimmune problems like diabetes mellitus. Problems such as intolerance to sugars or added sensitivities to sugar-based foods can cause bloating or formation of gas, pains in your lower abdomen - especially after you take a lot of sweets.

People living with malabsorption of fructose, intolerances to lactose and irritable bowel syndrome. are more likely to develop such sensitivity to sugars or related intolerances.
